 Lake Wohlford
Originally called Bear Valley Reservoir, the dam and canal were completed in 1895. In 1924 the reservoir was renamed after Alvin W. Wohlford in recognition of is dedication and contributions to the Escondido Farm Bureau.

Hours, Fees
Lake Wohlford is open seven days a week from mid-December through the weekend after Labor Day in September. Lake Wohlford is open Saturdays and Sundays only from the weekend after Labor Day until mid-December. Fishing hours are 6:00 a.m. to dusk. Directions
25453 Lake Wohlford Road, Escondido, CA 92025. Take the 15 freeway to Valley Pkwy exit in Escondido. Go east about 8 miles to Lake Wohlford Rd., turn right. Follow the road up the hill until you come to a split. For main lake entrance, launch ramp and rental boats follow Lake Wohlford Drive to the left, lake will be on the right. For additional shore fishing and Oakvale Park, follow the split to the right. You can purchase fishing permits at Lake Wohlford Cafe or Oakvale Park. For boat rentals and launch fees go to Lake Wohlford Cafe.
